Literacy & Functional Skills Teaching Assistant

Required to start September 2026. Permanent, term-time only position at 32.5 hours per week.

About the role

We are looking for a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Literacy & Functional Skills Teaching Assistant to join our established learning support team. The role is primarily to facilitate greater inclusion and remove barriers for students with identified or moving towards being identified as requiring SEN support.

Responsibilities

• Support students with a wide range of SEND in literacy and functional skills.
• Work with young people to support their welfare and wellbeing.
• Contribute to an inclusive environment that removes barriers to learning.

Requirements

• Experience working with students with a wide range of SEND.
• Desire to work with young people and support their welfare and wellbeing.
• Kind, dedicated, and hardworking attitude from any educational background or key stage.
• Willingness to progress to a secondary environment within SEND.

Pay

Band 7, scale points 32–36. Actual salary: £22,094–£23,923 per annum (FTE: £26,141–£28,305).
