Job Summary
The Literacy Content Specialist will collaborate with other specialists to ensure a coherent vision for PreK-12 Literacy teaching and learning is scaled throughout CPS. The primary objective is to improve student experience and outcomes aligned with the CPS Instructional Core Vision.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience, including at least five (5) years of classroom teaching experience in English language arts, minimum of three (3) years of teacher leadership experience, and minimum of three (3) years working with adult learners.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Expertise in planning, designing, facilitating, and evaluating professional learning; knowledge of culturally and linguistically sustaining language arts instructional practices; exceptional organizational skills; commitment to CPS Instructional Core Vision; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to build consensus and leverage expertise.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to departmental strategic planning and continuous improvement.
- Develop and facilitate professional learning for various stakeholders.
- Support the development of district-wide resources and instructional guidance.
- Evaluate professional learning outcome data and identify barriers to successful implementation.
- Collaborate with other department Content Specialists to support shared initiatives.
