About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator III to support and enhance a complex enterprise technology environment. This role will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and advanced support of Windows and Linux servers, VMware infrastructure, storage, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and enterprise applications. The ideal candidate is a strong technical problem solver who can independently troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, support critical systems, contribute to architecture and planning, and mentor junior team members.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain enterprise Windows and Linux servers, operating systems, applications, and infrastructure.
- Manage and support VMware/ESXi virtualization environments, including maintenance, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Provide advanced administration and support for Microsoft 365 and related services.
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Provide Tier 3 technical support and resolve complex issues across multiple technology platforms.
- Design, implement, and support application infrastructure, interfaces, dependencies, and integrations.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure, platform, and network documentation and diagrams.
- Support business continuity, disaster recovery, and system recovery initiatives.
- Lead or participate in infrastructure upgrades, installations, migrations, and hardware/software implementations.
- Monitor system performance, availability, security, and reliability and proactively address potential issues.
- Support enterprise infrastructure including servers, storage, switches, firewalls, LAN/WAN, and related technologies.
- Develop and maintain automation and administrative scripts using PowerShell, Linux shell, or other scripting languages.
- Evaluate infrastructure and application requirements related to security, performance, scalability, reliability, and redundancy.
- Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, developers, testers, and other technical teams on infrastructure initiatives.
- Mentor junior administrators and provide guidance on troubleshooting and technical best practices.
- Assist with cloud infrastructure and architecture across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments.
- Maintain awareness of emerging infrastructure technologies and recommend improvements where appropriate.
- Perform additional technical and infrastructure responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong hands-on experience administering Windows and/or Linux servers.
- Comprehensive experience with VMware/ESXi virtualization.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
- Experience with enterprise infrastructure including servers, storage/SAN, networking, switches, firewalls, and LAN/WAN technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-determination skills across multiple technology platforms.
- Experience with PowerShell, Linux shell scripting, or similar automation technologies.
- Knowledge of infrastructure security, patching, performance monitoring, backup/recovery, and high availability.
- Understanding of application infrastructure requirements, including security, performance, reliability, scalability, and redundancy.
- Experience with cloud architecture and services, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience leading technical projects and mentoring junior team members.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and remain effective when responding to high-impact technical issues.
