About the role
Linux Server Administrator responsible for supporting mission-critical Department of War IT infrastructure in classified and unclassified networks.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux OS (Red Hat, Ubuntu) on physical and virtual environments.
- Implement security standards, apply vulnerability patches, and ensure compliance with Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- Monitor server health, ensure high availability of applications and storage, and provide Tier II/III technical support for hardware, software, and network issues.
- Develop automation scripts using Bash, Python, and Ansible to improve operational efficiency.
- Draft SOPs, system diagrams, and maintain configuration logs for transparency and compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 7+ years of IT experience, or 10+ years without a degree.
- At least 3 years of enterprise Linux systems administration in a federal or DoD setting.
- Active IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CCNA Security) and Linux OS certification (e.g., RHCSA, Linux+).
- Knowledge of Active Directory, Identity Management, NFS, DNS, LDAP, SSH, SCP.
- Must hold an active TS/SCI clearance.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Splunk, ACAS, HBSS.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, or cloud environments like AWS/Azure GovCloud.
