About the role
Linux Server Administrator responsible for supporting mission-critical IT infrastructure in a classified environment.
Responsibilities
- Installing, configuring, maintaining, and securing Linux operating systems (Red Hat, Ubuntu) on physical and virtual (VMware) platforms.
- Implementing DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), managing vulnerability patches, and ensuring compliance with Risk Management Framework (RMF) standards.
- Monitoring server health to ensure high availability and providing Tier II/III technical support for hardware, software, and network issues.
- Developing automation scripts (Bash, Python, Ansible) to improve operational efficiency.
- Maintaining SOPs, system architecture diagrams, and configuration logs for transparency and compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 7 years of IT experience or 10 years without a degree.
- At least 3 years of enterprise Linux systems administration, preferably in a federal or DoD setting.
- Active IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CCNA Security) and Linux OS certification (e.g., RHCSA, Linux+).
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Identity Management, NFS, DNS, LDAP, SSH, and SCP.
- Must hold an active TS/SCI clearance.
Skills
- Experience with Splunk, ACAS (Tenable Nessus), HBSS.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS/Azure GovCloud environments.
