Linux Administrator – RHEL Administration (Hybrid- Kirkland, WA or San Diego, CA)

We are looking for a Linux Administrator for a large, global B2B high-tech company. This is a 12-month contract (extension possible) as a W2 employee of Stage 4 Solutions, offering health benefits and 401K. The role is hybrid, requiring 2 days onsite at the client’s office in Kirkland, WA or San Diego, CA, with 40 hours per week.

About the Role

In this role, you will own the day-to-day operational health of the Linux Center of Expertise by driving RHEL 8/RHEL 9 security remediation, coordinating with service owners, maintaining Puppet and Ansible automation, and ensuring timely execution of KTLO operational work across the OS Engineering organization.

Responsibilities

  • CIS & Security Compliance Support:
    • Perform CIS Level 1 and Level 2 remediation activities for RHEL 8 and RHEL 9 environments.
    • Coordinate remediation work with application owners, infrastructure teams, Security, and dependent service teams.
    • Track remediation progress, dependencies, exceptions, and validation evidence through completion.
  • Security Vulnerability Remediation Support:
    • Support OS vulnerability remediation, patch implementation, and emergency remediation for critical findings.
    • Use automation where practical to reduce repetitive manual work and improve execution consistency.
    • Partner with Security teams to resolve findings within required timelines.
  • KTLO Operations:
    • Provide operational support for Configuration Management and OS Engineering assignment groups.
    • Handle interrupt requests, incidents, intake requests, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and production support.
    • Maintain clear status updates on operational work, risks, blockers, and dependencies.
  • Cross-Team Coordination:
    • Work closely with Security Engineering, Service Owners, Infrastructure Engineering, OS Engineering, and Configuration Management engineers.
    • Communicate project status, blockers, risks, and decisions in a clear and timely manner.
    • Identify dependencies early and help drive them to resolution.

Requirements

  • Technical Skills:
    • Operating Systems: RHEL 8, RHEL 9, RHEL 10; Linux kernel internals
    • Security: CVE management, SELinux, hardening, compliance
    • Automation: Puppet, Ansible, Terraform
    • Languages: Bash, Python, Ruby
    • Infrastructure: Azure, VMware, Red Hat OpenStack
    • Tools & Platforms: GitLab, CI/CD systems, VS Code
  • Contractor Expectations:
    • Independent execution, clear communication, operational discipline
  • Working Environment:
    • Government-regulated industry compliance required.
    • On-call support may be required depending on organizational needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
  • CompTIA Linux+ and/or Security+.
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools.
  • Git version control proficiency.
  • Experience with immutable infrastructure practices.
  • Knowledge of modern container orchestration and microservices infrastructure.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Clear and professional communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset.
    • Ability to manage assigned work, dependencies, and status updates with limited supervision.

Pay

$65/hr - $70/hr.

Schedule

40 hours per week, hybrid (2 days onsite).
