About the role
CVP is seeking an experienced Linux Administrator to join our team supporting the USDA. Provide infrastructure support. Install new OS to physical and virtual, configure the OS to use IP addresses and DNS servers, patch the RHEL 8 and 9 Operating System and manage other vulnerabilities.
Responsibilities
- Create standardized steps, write, maintain and execute scripts, such as Python, PowerShell and shell, that automate administrator operations.
- Troubleshoot procedures and technical information to identify incidents and carry out the resolution process, research issues that do not have a recognized solution and prepare a resolution process for them.
- Aid in tweaking the performance of the system. Develop and maintain configuration management solutions.
- Collaborate with other teams to push for better security practices across an organization’s applications and deploy solutions to enhance productivity.
- Create and maintain documentation on systems related to IT and knowledge base areas.
- Rack and stack servers.
- Maintain Computer Management Database (CMDB).
Requirements
- Must be eligible to obtain a federal security clearance (US Citizenship Required)
- 5+ years Linux Systems Administration experience or comparable training.
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8 and 9) OS.
- Knowledge of Physical and Virtual systems (vmWare & HyperVisor).
Qualifications
- Excels in customer support with troubleshooting OS configurations for application needs.
- Demonstrate initiative to learn new technologies and the ability to provide support for new technologies.
Skills
- Experience (not simply “knowledge of”) with Ansible, Satellite, GitLab or Tanium is a plus.
- Jenkins, Puppet, Cloud-native management and deployment capabilities are a plus.
