Lineworker II - Lineworker Sr.

About the Role

This position may be filled as a Lineworker (Mechanic) II, III, or Senior based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. The role involves performing all aspects of the Lineworker job function, including maintaining and building overhead and underground electrical facilities. Responsibilities include various levels of learning, performing, and leading other lineworkers, material maintenance, and aerial and underground work, including utility distribution construction tasks. A Live Safe mindset is essential to mitigate identified hazards.

Responsibilities

• Lineworker II
  • Perform overhead tasks, including energized primary cover up to 34,500 volts.
  • Understand transformer theories, including bank installations, tap settings, and identifying and constructing multiple secondary voltage applications.
  • Learn and perform simple primary voltage switching (up to 34,500 volts) tasks and applications.
  • Lift, rig, and tie knots to set up, construct, frame poles, and change out cross-arms; identify materials and understand distribution construction specifications.
• Lineworker III
  • Perform all tasks included in Helper through Lineworker II.
  • Build and maintain underground residential distribution circuits, including preparing/operating pad mount switchgear, installing and troubleshooting URD circuits, and switching/tagging URD primary cable.
  • Learn three-phase primary tasks, including safe operation and removal/installation of single and three-phase reclosers, changing out insulators, and installing and replacing Gang Operated Airbrake Switches (GOABs).
• Lineworker Senior
  • Perform all tasks included in Helper through Lineworker III.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, including indirect crew leadership.
  • Learn and perform advanced primary voltage switching (up to 34,500 volts) tasks and applications.
  • Perform advanced Lineworker tasks on Regulators, capacitor banks, Alternate Switching Scheme, and Intelliruptor devices.
• All Levels
  • Maintain a well-organized jobsite to ensure safe surroundings.
  • Complete and perform all mandated training, such as First Aid, CPR, etc.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months to 4 years of experience in a distribution field (placement level determined by experience). Preferred: 2 years of direct Distribution linework experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must have, and maintain, a Class-A CDL or ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment. Preferred: valid Class A CDL.

Additional Information

This position is designated as Safety Sensitive and is subject to mandatory pre-employment and random drug testing. The role is based in Marksville, Louisiana, and may require travel of 25% to 50%. As a provider of essential services, employees may be required to work additional hours, alternate locations, or perform extra duties during storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company.
