Liner Design Technician

Summary The Liner Design Technician supports the technical design and manufacturing preparation of cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) liners by translating customer requirements into detailed construction specifications. This role bridges engineering concepts with production execution—ensuring liners are designed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with quality and operational standards. Key Responsibilities Design & Technical Translation Translate customer purchase orders (POs), specifications, and project requirements into liner construction assembliesInterpret technical inputs including pipe dimensions, pressures, materials, and installation methodsEnsure all designs align with internal standards, engineering guidelines, and customer requirements Construction Sheet Development Create liner construction sheets using standardized Excel-based design templatesValidate accuracy of inputs, calculations, and material selections prior to releaseMaintain consistency and version control across all design documentation ERP & BOM Management Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) within NetSuite for:Dry linersWet linersEnsure alignment between design specifications and ERP recordsSupport data accuracy across systems to enable efficient production planning Document Control & Archiving Manage and store construction sheets within the pipe specification archiveMaintain organized records of Customer Project Forms, especially for complex or custom projectsEnsure documentation is accessible, traceable, and audit-ready Cross-Functional Coordination Distribute construction sheets to downstream production teams (manufacturing, wet-out, quality)Collaborate with operations, quality, and technical teams to resolve design or production questionsSupport continuous improvement efforts related to design accuracy and efficiency Additional Responsibilities Assist with updates to design templates, standards, and documentation practicesParticipate in training and onboarding to develop technical expertise in CIPP liner designPerform other duties as assigned by the Technical Director Qualifications Required Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to work with formulas, data, and structured templatesStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracyAbility to interpret technical information, specifications, and customer requirementsStrong organizational and problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate effectively and work collaboratively across departments Preferred Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical fieldRelevant technical training, coursework, internship, co-op, or equivalent hands-on experienceExposure to manufacturing, materials, infrastructure, or other technical environmentsFamiliarity with ERP systems such as NetSuiteExposure to CAD, technical drawings, design calculations, or technical documentation Tools / Systems Used Microsoft Excel (primary design tool)NetSuite ERPDocument management / file storage systemsCAD or engineering reference tools Key Competencies Analytical thinking and problem-solvingAttention to detail and data accuracyProcess discipline and documentation controlCommunication and cross-functional collaborationAbility to learn quickly in a technical environment Objectives / Outcomes Accurately produce liner construction sheets with minimal errorsIndependently create BOMs aligned to design specificationsDevelop working knowledge of CIPP materials, processes, and applicationsReduce rework or design-related production issuesContribute to improved design templates and standardization KPIs Construction sheet accuracy rate (errors/rework)BOM accuracy and alignment to production outputTurnaround time from PO receipt to design releaseNumber of design-related production issuesDocument compliance and audit readiness Physical Requirements / Work Environment Primarily office-based with occasional exposure to manufacturing environmentsAbility to sit for extended periods and work on a computerOccasional plant floor interaction requiring standard PPE Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday but could include shift work, weekends, evenings and/or holidays - flexibility is required as job duties demand.
