Linen Worker

M Health Fairview is seeking a Casual Linen Worker at our Fairview UMMC - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN.

Schedule

• Pick up shifts as needed
• Day/evening shifts available:
  • 5:00am - 1:30pm
  • 6:00am - 2:30pm
  • 2:00pm - 10:30pm

Responsibilities

• Performs all tasks demonstrating service orientation to fellow employees, facility staff, and customers
• Inspects and sorts linen as it is received from laundry; records and returns rejects to laundry
• Removes clean linen from laundry carts and places in designated areas; loads carts for delivery
• Replenishes linen according to established levels and/or utilization
• Maintains log for linen closets, documents unused linen, and reports any apparent discrepancy between established standards and actual usage
• Maintains linen room in a clean and orderly condition
• Performs all other related and miscellaneous duties as required
• Ensures clean linen is covered while delivering through the hospital
• Takes count of linen not used from previous delivery
• Collects and loads soiled linen into carts from soil collection areas in the facility and takes it to designated pick-up area
• Maintains records and utilization information on tablet and/or paper, including counting linen not used from previous delivery and current linen in hospital
• Uses a computer and applications associated with performing basic work tasks (navigate in Windows, Outlook, tablets, etc.)
• Develops effective rapport with customers, coworkers, or families through active listening
• Reports mechanical and equipment failures or negative conditions to appropriate supervisor

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Basic ability to read and write in English
• Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy loads

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Previous experience in a similar role (preferred but not required)
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Basic knowledge of safety and sanitation practices
