About the role

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager / Technical Lead – Linear Infrastructure to join our team. This role involves leading the planning, design, and delivery of storm and sanitary sewer conveyance and watermain distribution projects for clients across the Mid-Atlantic region.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of design professionals and technicians
  • Mentor and supervise staff and develop high-performing project teams
  • Perform business development/application tasks and collaborate with staff to increase project wins and develop long-lasting client relationships
  • Participate in business line teams to manage and develop proposals, client facing for business development contact, meetings, walk-downs, and presentations; create scope of work documents and estimates, collaborate with multiple business lines to develop opportunities; and perform quality reviews
  • Aid senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule
  • Design basis documents, engineering calculations including water, heat, and material balances, equipment sizing and selection, engineering drawings such as block flow diagrams (BFDs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs), engineering reports, feasibility studies; and presentations to clients, regulatory agencies, and/or project stakeholders
  • Manage projects of varying complexity within multidisciplinary teams
  • Research and understand issues related to regulatory and other drivers that impact individual projects
  • Achieve budget, schedule, and contractual obligations
  • Coordinate with the regulatory review to seek final approval
  • Oversee proposals including development of the scope and level of effort of comparable size
  • Undertake decisions and recommendations governed by general policy and project management governance
  • Supervise local staff and provide mentoring and coaching for future leaders, including development of succession plans for key positions

Requirements

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Engineering in Environmental, Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university
  • Minimum 15 years of project management experience in a consulting environment, with a focus on conveyance and water infrastructure design
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain license within 6 months
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus
  • Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, including defining and setting the direction for a team, project, and office; strategy development; change management; and corporate stewardship

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Market knowledge and business acumen combined with innovative ideas
  • Successful history of client relations and account management
  • Experience and expertise with the design of conveyance projects in urbanized, congested areas
  • Experience with the design of water, sewer, and drainage infrastructure 24-inches in diameter and larger

Skills

  • Ability to perform mass & energy balance and process equipment sizing calculations and coordinate with other engineering disciplines including stress/structural, instrumentation & controls, and electrical
  • Understanding of local and regional jurisdictional codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions
  • Strong ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD drawings
  • Understanding of construction methods, such as open-cut and trenchless (microtunneling, jack and bore, etc.) for sewer and water infrastructure
  • Understanding of water and storm and sanitary sewer rehabilitation
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of conveyance system construction elements as it relates to design in order to select construction methods and defining work area limits
