About the role

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager / Technical Lead – Linear Infrastructure to join our team. This role involves leading the planning, design, and delivery of storm and sanitary sewer conveyance and watermain distribution projects for clients across the Mid-Atlantic. You will work alongside a diverse group of technical experts to deliver meaningful solutions for our clients and communities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of design professionals and technicians
  • Mentor and supervise staff and develop high-performing project teams
  • Perform business development/application tasks and collaborate with staff to increase project wins and develop long-lasting client relationships
  • Routine tasks include: participate in business line teams to manage and develop proposals, client facing for business development contact, meetings, walk-downs, and presentations; create scope of work documents and estimates, collaborate with multiple business lines to develop opportunities; and perform quality reviews
  • Afford assistance to senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule
  • Perform complex engineering design tasks on assigned wastewater-related projects through collaboration with a wide range of technical disciplines
  • Routine technical tasks include: design basis documents, engineering calculations including water, heat, and material balances, equipment sizing and selection, engineering drawings such as block flow diagrams (BFDs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs), engineering reports, feasibility studies; and presentations to clients, regulatory agencies, and/or project stakeholders
  • Assist with the management of the design and construction of projects
  • Develop project management plans for projects; establishes goals and objectives for unique and complex projects
  • Responsible for successfully establishing projects to achieve budget, schedule, and contractual obligations
  • Conduct and/or coordinate quality assurance and quality control on assigned projects and facilitates independent technical review projects by others
  • Involvement in the permitting process of projects, which may require meeting with clients, contractors, interested stakeholder parties, reviewing agency personnel
  • Accountable for making decisions on large projects. You coordinate with the regulatory review to seek final approval
  • Manage projects of varying complexity within multidisciplinary teams
  • Research and understand issues related to regulatory and other drivers that impact individual projects
  • Aid business leaders in project revenue forecasting
  • Undertake decisions and recommendations governed by general policy and project management governance
  • Supervise local staff and responsible for providing mentoring and coaching for future leaders, including development of succession plans for key positions

Requirements

You must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering in Environmental, Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university. You should have a minimum of 15 years of project management experience in a consulting environment, with a focus on conveyance and water infrastructure design. A licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to obtain one within 6 months is preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is also beneficial. You should demonstrate strong leadership skills, including defining and setting the direction for a team, project, and office; strategy development; change management; and corporate stewardship. Travel to other offices as well as to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

You should have the following capabilities and credentials:

  • Ability to perform mass & energy balance and process equipment sizing calculations and coordinate with other engineering disciplines including stress/structural, instrumentation & controls, and electrical
  • Understanding of local and regional jurisdictional codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions
  • Strong ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD drawings
  • Understanding of construction methods, such as open-cut and trenchless (microtunneling, jack and bore, etc.) for sewer and water infrastructure, is considered an asset
  • Understanding of water and storm and sanitary sewer rehabilitation, is considered an asset
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of conveyance system construction elements as it relates to design in order to select construction methods and defining work area limits
  • Experience and expertise with the design of conveyance projects in urbanized, congested areas
  • Experience with the design of water, sewer, and drainage infrastructure 24-inches in diameter and larger

Strong leadership and communication skills, market knowledge, business acumen combined with innovative ideas, and a successful history of client relations and account management are essential. Demonstrated success in leading, defining and setting the direction for a team, project, and office; strategy development; change management; and corporate stewardship.

Pay

Pay Range: Various Locations in ME, VA-$115,700.00 - $173,600.00 Annually Locations in MN, OH, VT, & Various CA, ME, NY, VA Areas-$128,600.00 - $192,900.00 Annually Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ, VA Areas-$141,500.00 - $212,200.00 Annually Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA, VA Areas-$151,700.00 - $227,600.00 Annually Locations in NYC & CA (Bay Area) & NJ (RP)-$162,000.00 - $243,100.00 Annually Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
