Line Operator 2 NIGHTS - OK - Entry Level Position

About the Role

The Line Operator 2 serves as the front line of the production operation and is responsible for the basic operations of the extrusion lines. They assist with training new hires and develop a deeper understanding of quality standards as they expand their knowledge by operating various production lines. This role works under established guidelines and company policy, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of their production line.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic production duties such as loading cores, pulling trim, adjusting roll widths, and preparing finished products.
• Inspect visual quality of rolls and remove those not meeting standards.
• Use roll weight computer systems to accurately weigh rolls and/or boxes of finished products.
• Report finished products on required documents and prepare scrap bins for recycling.
• Set up skids, pack trays or boxes with finished rolls, and wrap trays with stretch film.
• Move completed skids using manual and electric pallet jacks.
• Train on various lines, rewinders, and other production areas to increase knowledge and fulfill staffing needs.
• Assist with quality standards and controls, including shift testing and completing quality control paperwork.
• Ensure continuous line operation, coordinate shift changes, and report issues to senior operators or management.
• Train new Line Operators and maintain a clean work environment.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned by management.

Requirements

• Demonstrated proficiency in preceding Line Operator roles.
• Technical and mechanical aptitude to understand machinery, systems, and basic hand tools.
• Ability to use scales, weights, and measurement tools accurately.
• Sound judgment in a fast-paced environment with rapid changes.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Teamwork and dependability regarding attendance and punctuality.
• Basic English communication and mathematic skills.

Physical Requirements

• Work in an environment with static electricity that may interfere with certain medical devices.
• Use near, far, and peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, pushing, pulling, and overhead extension.
• Stand and walk on concrete floors for 12-hour shifts.
• Crouch, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, climb stairs/ladders, and work on elevated platforms.
• Lift and move between 45-55 lbs regularly and up to 65 lbs occasionally.
• Communicate verbally in person and over a paging system.
• Use PPE as required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in a plastics manufacturing environment preferred.

Environmental Conditions

The role is performed indoors in a hot or cold, moderately loud environment. PPE is required while performing job functions.
