Line Mechanic (Waterford, CT)

About the role

Eversource Energy, the largest energy delivery company in New England supporting 4.4 million customers across Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, is seeking a Fully Qualified Line Mechanic for the Waterford, CT location. This role involves performing work in the construction, operation, and maintenance of the electric system, including installation, repair, and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical power lines and auxiliary equipment.

Responsibilities

• Work aloft on electric utility poles and on ground or pad-mounted structures
• Direct the work of others when assigned
• Participate in emergency response and restoration assignments
• Be available for trouble call assignments, reporting to base within approximately one-half hour
• Perform overtime and emergency work as required
• Live within one hour of the reporting location

Qualifications

• Fully qualified Line Mechanic with at least one year of experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to climb poles skillfully with Lineman's climbers
• Qualification to hold and possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL); a valid CDL with a satisfactory clean driving record is preferred
• Ability to perform rubber gloving of high voltage distribution systems up to 23KV
• Physically able to perform essential duties of the position
• Ability to effectively interact, communicate, and direct the work of other co-workers
• Must be available for overtime and emergency work and live within one hour of the reporting location

Pay

The salary range starts at $56.32 and progresses in accordance with the union contract.

Additional information

• Emergency Response: All employees receive an Emergency Restoration assignment and may be called to assist during emergencies outside normal responsibilities, work hours, and location
• Bargaining unit employees under the TEAL contract will be given first consideration
