About the Role
Michael Foods, Inc. is a leader in the food processing and distribution industry with business in egg products, refrigerated grocery, and potato products. The Wakefield facility is one of the largest production sites within Michael Foods, serving as a flex plant capable of producing everything from whole pasteurized eggs to liquid, dried, hard-boiled eggs, and curds.
Responsibilities
- Keep the area around machines clean and neat.
- Remove cases from pallets and place them on the conveyor to feed into the Loader.
- Remove any eggs stuck to plastic flats.
- Remove empty flats from the flat stacker.
- Dump inedible buckets from machines after end-of-shift cleanup.
- Perform minor troubleshooting of Production Loaders.
- Promptly notify Management of mechanical issues.
- Follow proper Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Adhere to safe work practices, follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality.
- Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety to management.
- Assume personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health into all tasks.
- Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Less than high school education (required).
- Prior manufacturing experience (preferred).
- Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
- Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers.
- Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
- Capability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished orally.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work effectively with others.
- Able to safely lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Self-motivated while willing to ask questions and seek direction.
- Displays responsible behavior at work and is open to change.
- Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, and humid environments.
- Ability to work around required cleaning solutions.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Able to stand on a hard surface for most of the shift, ascend and descend stairs, bend, stoop or crouch, grasp, and reach.
