Line Inspector
About the role
Connexus Energy has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Line Inspector. This position supports the safe and reliable operation of the electrical distribution system by performing scheduled overhead line and equipment inspections using standard and infrared methods, identifying potential hazards, and maintaining accurate system records.
Compensation
The hiring wage for this union position is $51.87 per hour in accordance with the union contract. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual bonus with a target payout of 5% of annual earnings based on company performance.
Working Conditions
Work is performed outdoors year-round in a fully in-person role, requiring the ability to navigate uneven terrain, overcome obstacles (e.g., fences), and safely operate in varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions.
What you will do
- Perform scheduled inspections of overhead lines and distribution equipment using standard and infrared methods.
- Identify hazards, failing components, and maintain accurate records to support safety, compliance, and outage tracking.
- Meet with potential house movers and coordinate system assessments, including infrastructure, equipment, and line clearances, to identify any issues.
- Collaborate with System Operations and Construction & Maintenance Supervisors to arrange required orders and estimate costs for house moves.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma.
- Five years’ experience working with electrical distribution or transmission systems in a design, construction, maintenance or inspection capacity.
- Ability to learn and apply National Electrical Safety Code and Construction Standards.
- Current and valid drivers license.
- Ability to use binoculars, spotting scope, infrared camera, digital camera, insulated measuring stick, or other measuring devices.
