Line Handler 1-2

About the Role

Secure and remove a ship’s dock lines at port. Perform heavy manual labor for extended periods in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Catch and throw heaving lines from ship’s docking.
• Pull mooring lines down the dock and secure to bollards; remove mooring lines from bollards.
• Train and obtain approval to operate pedestal crane to move cargo and personnel to/from vessel (required at levels 3 & 4).
• Perform dock inspections prior to vessel arrival.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Works under close supervision, receives detailed work instructions, and applies basic judgement in resolving routine issues.
• Troubleshoots basic problems and identifies deviations from accepted practices.
