A Line Cook at Hudson House plays a vital role in delivering the remarkable culinary experiences that define our brand. This position is responsible for executing menu recipes with precision, consistency, and pride, ensuring every dish meets Vandelay’s standards for flavor, presentation, and timing.
Responsibilities
- Execute all menu recipes with precision, consistency, and adherence to Vandelay’s culinary standards.
- Prepare dishes according to guest requests, portion guidelines, temperature specifications, and company timing standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked station throughout service, following all food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Prioritize and manage multiple tickets at once, ensuring accuracy and seamless pacing during high-volume periods.
- Collaborate closely with the culinary team and front-of-house partners to support smooth, efficient service.
- Follow proper cooking techniques, knife skills, and equipment usage to ensure quality and safety.
- Uphold plate presentation standards so every dish leaving the kitchen reflects Vandelay’s commitment to excellence.
- Assist with daily prep, stock rotation, and storage to maintain freshness and consistency across all menu items.
- Execute opening, mid-shift, and closing procedures according to kitchen guidelines.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- 1-2 years of culinary experience in a full-service, high-volume restaurant.
- Strong work ethic with a passion for delivering high-quality food and guest experiences.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
- Solid understanding of culinary fundamentals, including cooking methods, mise en place, and knife skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to consistency, cleanliness, and proper food safety practices.
- Ability to take direction, receive feedback, and work collaboratively in a team-driven environment.
- Food handler certification as required by state and local regulations.
- Desire to learn, grow, and refine skills within Vandelay’s culinary program.

- Ability to work standing and walking for extended periods of time
