Line-Cook
Principle Responsibilities and Position Purpose
The Line-Cook will be responsible for stocking and setting of the station. Preparing food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing sauces. Cooking food items by grilling, sauteing, other cooking methods to specified recipes and standards. Maintaining cleanliness and complying with food sanitation requirements by properly handling food and ensuring correct storage.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Taking directions from supervisor and retaining information received.
- Assisting with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations.
- Preparing food including cleaning and cutting the ingredients, cooking main dishes, desserts, appetizers, and snacks.
- Plating prepared foods based on senior chef's guidance.
- Working with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time.
- Ensuring all equipment is kept in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the restaurant's preventative maintenance programs.
- Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking equipment at the end of work shifts.
- Fully understand and follow all regulations that pertain to health and safety.
Qualification Standards
- Preference for previous cooking experience.
- Experience/ Licenses Or Certificates: Minimum of 2 years experience in a restaurant or related field is an asset.
Schedule / Holidays / PTO
The Line cooks are expected to normally keep a 5 day a week schedule, adjusted as needed (potentially more than 5 days) according to occupancy and business need, and be available for peak guest times and/or in the event of an emergency. A work week of 50 hours per week can be expected, however it can be more or less depending on the business needs of the Food and Beverage operation. Working evenings, weekends and holidays is required. The Line cooks will typically be available during peak seasons, typically taking PTO and vacations during slower seasons.
About the Role
The Firebrand Hotel Restaurant, centrally located in downtown Whitefish, is seeking a Line-Cook to work with our food and beverage team. $21 - $24 hourly DOE.
