Essential Duties
- Proper food handling, storage, stocking, & rotation
- Executing food products as intended based on the Chef’s guidelines and specifications
- Keeps an inventory of their station’s products
- Communicates with service staff and management concerning new menu items, food preparation methods, availability, and substitutes of food items
- Maintains sanitary conditions and work habits
- Operates kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives and cooking appliances
- Works independently and with minimal supervision
- Performs other kitchen duties as assigned
- Completes work in a timely and orderly fashion
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a scratch kitchen
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to read English and be able to reasonably communicate verbally in English
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work weekends, all holidays, mornings, and nights
Work Environment
This position is based in a commercial kitchen environment, often hot, humid, and fast-paced. Exposure to cooking equipment, cleaning chemicals, and sharp instruments is routine. Teamwork is essential in this high-energy setting.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand for long periods
- Bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to go up and down stairs in our multi-level kitchen
- Tasks involve repetitive motion and use of hands to handle food, tools, or controls
- The role requires stamina, manual dexterity, and awareness of food safety standards
