Job Summary
The Limited License Radiography Instructor of the Poynor School of Health Care Innovation plays a critical role in shaping the future of healthcare education in the Pee Dee Region. This role will plan, deliver, and evaluate instruction for high school students, preparing them with the knowledge and skills for certification and healthcare employment.
About the Role
This role will guide allied health professionals and students in operating X-ray equipment, patient positioning, and radiation safety. Their core responsibilities include delivering curriculum, managing clinical training, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance, and mentoring students.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging lectures, demonstrations, and workshops focused on guest services, patient support, environmental management, communication and coordination, and problem solving.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and practical demonstrations.
- Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to help students improve their skills and understanding.
- Manage program logistics, such as scheduling classes, field trips, and other program-related activities.
- Instruct students on the fundamentals of X-ray production, human anatomy, physiology, and image production.
- Instruct students on healthcare vocabulary, word structures, and abbreviations, often preparing them for careers in the medical field.
- Lead hands-on lab simulations and coordinate externships at outpatient clinics or urgent care centers.
- Train students to adhere to strict ASRT Practice Standards, which include proper use of lead shielding, minimizing dose, and monitoring personal radiation exposure.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of two years of experience working as a radiography technician.
- Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and a valid SC state license.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage and motivate students.
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom environment.
- Patience, empathy, cultural sensitivity, and strong leadership abilities are crucial for guiding students and fostering a supportive learning environment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
- Knowledgeable of and able to follow the standards of federal, state and regulatory agencies and DNV/DHEC.
