About the role
Drive sales growth and customer support for lighting and control-system components used in buses, trucks, and specialty vehicles. Partner directly with OEM customers and cross-functional teams—engineering, customer support—to manage and grow the product portfolio. Success requires strong technical expertise, consultative selling skills, and the ability to build lasting customer relationships by delivering solutions that address industry-specific challenges and achieve year-over-year revenue growth.
Core Market Focus: Bus and Heavy-Duty Truck Lighting
Geographic Coverage: Primarily North America
Responsibilities
- Work independently to identify opportunities with OEM customers that advance the sale and delivery of Weldon lighting products across North America.
- Develop and execute a business plan.
- Actively support the team to identify credible opportunities that advance the sale, delivery, and commissioning of new and existing products.
- Actively develop, educate, and support OEM channel partners.
- Provide strong Voice of Customer (VOC) feedback to drive growth in areas of value to the industry.
- Identify potential growth opportunities with OEM customers.
- Provide actionable intelligence and market feedback to understand customer, market, and industry trends.
- Recommend and participate in New Product Development initiatives, as applicable.
- Provide market and opportunity updates through company-available reporting tools.
- Travel up to 25%.
- Analyze field problems remotely (most times via telephone) and recommend corrective action to both the customer and AB engineers.
- Offer post-sales support to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Provide regulatory and compliance support (FMVSS 108, SAE, ECE, EMC).
Requirements
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and people skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work with short deadlines.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in changing environments.
- Superior people skills for internal and external interactions, including international customers and sales reps.
- Timely response to after-sale customer requirements.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Ability to travel with short notice.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in sales, engineering, electrical engineering, or technology and 6+ years’ experience (recent graduates will be considered based on course work and grades; a master’s degree is a plus).
- Technical sales and support experience in the fire and safety markets.
- Experience managing multiple projects of varying degrees of difficulty simultaneously.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Proven ability to communicate and express ideas to engineers, both internal and external, while remaining objective yet firm.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
- Additional certifications in sales, marketing, or project management are advantageous.
- Strong technical knowledge of electronic components, control systems, and their application in fire and safety systems.
Work Environment
Up to 25% travel to OEM manufacturing facilities.
