About the role
Knife River is seeking an experienced Light Duty Vehicle Mechanic to join our Missoula division. The position requires a combination of independent work and teamwork, with the potential to work in extreme weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform significant maintenance on all types of light duty vehicle repairs.
- Safely operate various tools and equipment including standard to specialty tools, torches, welders, hoists, forklifts, and other heavy equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment maintenance problems, diagnose parts and components, and determine the method and extent of repair necessary.
- Read, interpret, analyze, and apply information from technical manuals and schematics.
- Anticipate necessary parts and supplies for order.
- Complete shop forms, maintain tidy work areas, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Communicate effectively with others within and outside the company.
- Work independently or in a team setting, handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
- Operate company vehicles for field service repairs.
- Provide your own basic hand tools, pneumatics, and some specialty tools.
- Be flexible with shifts that may include working nights, evenings, and weekends.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the shop manager.
Requirements
- Qualified driving record.
- Experience with light duty vehicle repair.
- Experience with Ford vehicle repair (preferred).
- Own your own tools.

- Willingness to handle multiple projects while maintaining deadlines and attention to detail.
