About the Role

We’re looking for a Forklift Battery Specialist to maintain, repair, and manage batteries used in forklifts. This role ensures the smooth operation of forklifts by optimizing battery performance through regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and replacement. The position requires strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience with battery systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance tasks, including checking battery fluid levels, cleaning terminals, and monitoring charging processes.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot battery issues such as low voltage, short circuits, or cell damage.
  • Test battery capacity, voltage, and overall health using specialized tools and equipment.
  • Monitor battery performance metrics and identify abnormalities or signs of degradation.
  • Determine when a battery needs replacement, dispose of old batteries properly, and install new ones.
  • Maintain accurate records of battery maintenance, repairs, replacements, and performance data.
  • Generate reports on battery health, usage, and recurring issues.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations for battery handling, storage, and disposal.
  • Collaborate with forklift technicians and maintenance teams to coordinate battery-related tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and stakeholders regarding battery-related issues and recommendations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience working with battery systems, preferably in a forklift or automotive setting.
  • Strong technical knowledge of battery components, charging processes, and maintenance procedures.
  • Familiarity with battery testing and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting battery-related issues and implementing solutions.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to sit.
  • Must frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • May be exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment.
  • Occasional exposure to high or precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
  • May occasionally work in wet or humid conditions, with toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold or heat, and risk of electrical shock.
  • Noise levels in some work environments may be loud.
