Lift Operator

About the role

Pacific Rail Services is seeking full-time Lift Operators to join their team at the Union Pacific Avondale, LA Terminal. This is a permanent, full-time position offering a starting rate of $18 - $20 per hour based on experience.

Essential Responsibilities

• Operate overhead or side loader cranes to load and unload containers, chassis, and trailers onto and off railroad cars.
• Perform daily pre-inspections to verify tire conditions, oil levels, hydraulics, lights, flashers, radios, damage, and cameras.
• Ensure all safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, is functioning properly.
• Activate work assignments using the onboard computer system.
• Aware of surroundings to maintain a safe and injury-free work environment.
• Verify container, chassis, and trailer numbers accurately.
• Maintain clear communication with ground persons and other personnel.
• Comply with HAZMAT and OSHA regulations.
• Support company mission and foster productive relationships with customers and vendors.
• Perform special tasks as directed by management and supervisors.
• Occasionally assist with hostling and ground person activities.

Requirements

• Valid Driver's License.
• Advanced knowledge of the railroad industry from vocational education, apprenticeship, on-the-job training, or similar experience.
• Pass a 7-year background check.
• No felonies in the last 7 years of jail time in the last 5 years.
• Pass a hair follicle drug test.
• Pass an IPCS Physical Capabilities Test.
