Lift Operator

About the role

Operate container lift and terminal tractor truck. Remove, store, and set up twist locks on containers. Assist service maintenance mechanics with maintenance and/or repairs of intermodal equipment at a rail ramp, and perform general facility maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Operate primary and/or secondary container lift.
• Operate tractor truck within the LDCTL terminal facility.
• Remove twist locks from containers on rail cars to allow container discharge.
• Place twist locks on containers to support export train loading.
• Ensure proper operation and storage of twist locks at the Amarillo facility.
• Assist the Service Maintenance Mechanic with equipment maintenance, clean-up, and shop tasks as directed.
• Notify management of needed repairs or unsafe conditions at the facility.
• Perform all related responsibilities as required.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be fluent in English.
• One (1) to three (3) years' experience operating top lift or similar equipment preferred but not required.
• Heavy equipment operational skills preferred but not required.

Skills

• Standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands to handle objects, tools, or controls.
• Ability to reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
• Ability to speak and hear.
• Regularly lift/move up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Good close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.
