About the role
The Lift Mechanic performs diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance work on distribution center equipment.
Responsibilities
- Schedules and performs routine maintenance.
- Repairs and replaces damaged or worn parts.
- Operates and inspects machines to diagnose defects.
- Tests mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers’ specifications.
- Cleans, lubricates, and performs other routine maintenance work on equipment.
- Reads and understands operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Diagnoses faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
- Researches, orders, and maintains parts inventory for service and repairs.
- Repairs, rewires, and troubleshoots electrical systems.
- Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
- Examines and repairs hydraulic systems.
- Examines and repairs brake systems on all equipment.
- Cleans parts by spraying them with grease solvent or immersing them in tanks of solvent.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Forklift truck mechanics training course certification or at least 1 year of experience in a related mechanical field preferred.
- In-depth mechanical knowledge of material handling products.
- Proper use of hand and power tools.
- Good knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal service.
- Good techniques in repairing equipment.
- Excellent mechanical knowledge.
- Excellent knowledge of safety and ergonomics.
