About the role

This position is responsible for leading the lifestyle team to create unique resident experiences that promote a vibrant, inclusive, and engaging community. This role is vital to the community to lead, develop, and oversee comprehensive activities that enhance the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive wellbeing of residents.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement activities in the following categories: physical (exercise), social, recreational, intellectual/educational, creative, entertainment, religious, service, and special requests of the residents.
  • Develop a diverse monthly calendar that incorporates activities seven days per week and includes evening and weekend activities.
  • Organize and facilitate a committee of residents and community members to solicit feedback on activities programming.
  • Document resident engagement each day in LifeLoop, tracking the data to observe engagement trends.
  • Interface with residents on a daily basis regarding problems or questions and work proactively to resolve issues.
  • Provide resident orientation and complete the activity assessment for each resident within one week after move-in and update annually.
  • Hire, train, and supervise lifestyle team members, motivating the team to achieve operational goals.
  • Ensure all internal and external communications, as well as flyers for activities and community events, are produced using approved branded templates while utilizing LifeLoop and Canva and requesting additional collateral through Zendesk to maintain consistent organizational branding standards.
  • Invite and/or remind residents to participate in planned activities, assisting them to and from activities.
  • Support social media content creation and posting for the community.
  • Become acquainted with each resident and their activity preferences and promote activities in a way that piques residents’ interests.
  • Coordinate community outings, events, and special celebrations, while assisting as a chaperone.
  • Publish monthly community newsletter and distribute to residents.
  • Arrange transportation for activity outings and regularly scheduled group trips, and drive the company vehicle as needed.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement decoration of the community for special events, seasons, and holidays.
  • Identify and requisition needed supplies for planned activities.
  • Coordinate food needs with the dining department for scheduled events and occasions.
  • Assist with development of activity budget and operate within budget guidelines.
  • Assist in planning and implementing marketing events that promote the community to potential residents.
  • Market the community to the local area by developing professional contacts in the area and inviting area organizations into the community on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance resident experiences.
  • Stay abreast of active aging and generational trends in order to continuously enhance vibrant living initiatives.
  • Share relevant information with team members to increase awareness and support professional development.
  • Ensure that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights.
  • Report on-the-job injuries to the supervisor before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to resident, community operations, and personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Degree in social services, gerontology, recreation, or equivalent
  • 2+ years progressive experience in a senior living setting or similar field
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record

Skills

  • Proficient computer skills and use of Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to assist residents with mobility and stand for extended periods
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Creative thinking and ability to design engaging programs for diverse resident interests
  • Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and staff effectively
  • Must possess the ability to interact with team members, residents, family members, visitors, state agencies, and the public
  • Ability to travel occasionally for meetings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in senior living activities or life enrichment
  • Experience working with memory care or seniors with dementia
