Lifestyle Coordinator-PT 2 days per week
About the Role
The Bristal Assisted Living is a premier senior care organization that values you as an individual. As a Lifestyle Coordinator, you will assist in presenting and coordinating recreational programs for assisted living residents, including those with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia in our dedicated Reflections Memory Care Neighborhood. You will help residents adjust to their new living environment, encouraging them to pursue existing interests and develop new ones.
You will plan fun and safe trips to destinations such as art galleries, theaters, music venues, racetracks, sports events, and religious or cultural programs. Additionally, you will prepare, print, and distribute monthly calendars, newsletters, and memos to residents. In the absence of the Director of Recreation, you will perform planned activities.
This role involves maintaining knowledge of resident backgrounds, hobbies, special interests, and spoken languages to encourage engagement and participation. Your compassionate attention is fundamental to enhancing the quality of life and general wellbeing of our residents.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and present recreational programs for assisted living residents, including those with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.
- Assist residents in adjusting to their new living environment and encourage participation in hobbies and lifestyle activities.
- Plan and organize safe trips to destinations such as art galleries, theaters, music venues, racetracks, sports events, and cultural or religious programs.
- Prepare, print, and distribute monthly calendars, newsletters, and memos to residents.
- Conduct planned activities in the absence of the Director of Recreation.
- Maintain knowledge of resident backgrounds, interests, and languages to foster engagement.
Requirements
- One year’s prior experience working with a senior population; experience with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia is a plus.
- At least 6 months of recreation activity experience (e.g., art therapy, music therapy) or event leadership experience, preferably in assisted living, long-term care, or a similar setting.
- Outgoing, warm, and genuinely caring personality.
- Ability to create engaging programs that excite and involve residents.
- Dependability in supervising activities, special events, and safe excursions.
- Creative talents in areas such as art, music, readings, or dance.
- Professional appearance and grooming.
- Strong listening and communication skills with a positive, professional attitude.
- Proven ability to lead classes and speak confidently in front of groups.
- High school diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement).
