About the role
This position is responsible for:
- Serves as a lifeguard for all pool operations; provides constant surveillance of pool activities.
- Teaches water exercise and swimming lesson classes.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Guards the safety of swimmers by providing constant surveillance of the entire pool area.
- Directs and supervises the behavior of all swimmers to ensure compliance with pool safety rules.
- Provides emergency lifesaving assistance to troubled or drowning swimmers; performs lifesaving C.P.R. and first aid in accordance with certified practices and procedures; contacts emergency medical assistance when needed; stays with victims until emergency medical assistance takes over care of victim.
- Teaches swimming lesson classes; maintains attendance records for classes; mails certification cards for swimming lesson classes.
- Maintains the cleanliness of the pool water; vacuums bottom of pool surface; scrubs side walls; back washes filter system; checks filter gauges and regulates water level and temperature of pool.
- Tests the pool water Ph level, chlorine level and Bromine level as scheduled in order to ensure correct chemical balance of pool water; dispenses chemicals into the pool as needed; ensures the safety of all swimmers.
- Maintains neatness and cleanliness of pool area; collects and disposes of trash; maintain neat and orderly pool office.

- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
- Ability to swim and perform lifesaving activities.
- Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or GED (Required).
- AND Two years’ experience working as a Lifeguard and teaching swimming lessons, OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills or abilities.
Skills
Skills:
- Lifeguard Certification from Red Cross.
- Water Safety Instructor Certification from Red Cross.
- C.P.R. and First Aid Certification (upon hire).
- Instructor Certification.
