Responsibilities
- Maintain surveillance of activities in the swimming pool.
- Promote safe swimming practices and ensure the security and well-being of all persons participating in activities in the water and immediate area.
- Render emergency assistance to persons in distress or difficulty.
- Administer first aid as required.
- Ensure that all areas are clean and secure before leaving the pool.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of age
- Able to swim 300 yards continuously (using both breaststroke and freestyle).
- Able to tread water for 2 minutes without hands.
- Able to retrieve a 10lb brick from the bottom of a 14-foot deep pool and swim it 25 yards without using hands in under 1 minute and 40 seconds.
Qualifications
- Preferred if the candidate is currently up to date with Red Cross Lifeguarding, first aid, CPR, and AED Certifications (cross-training available).
