Responsibilities

• Maintain surveillance of activities in the swimming pool.
• Promote safe swimming practices and ensure the security and well-being of all persons participating in activities in the water and immediate area.
• Render emergency assistance to persons in distress or difficulty.
• Administer first aid as required.
• Ensure that all areas are clean and secure before leaving the pool.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least 15 years of age
• Able to swim 300 yards continuously (using both breaststroke and freestyle).
• Able to tread water for 2 minutes without hands.
• Able to retrieve a 10lb brick from the bottom of a 14-foot deep pool and swim it 25 yards without using hands in under 1 minute and 40 seconds.

Qualifications

• Preferred if the candidate is currently up to date with Red Cross Lifeguarding, first aid, CPR, and AED Certifications (cross-training available).
