LIFEGUARD

Our 2024 beach season runs May–September.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the public beach area to monitor swimmers and prevent illegal conduct, either on foot or from the tower with binoculars.
• Observe assigned areas to detect hazardous conditions, distressed swimmers, disturbances, or safety infractions.
• Warn beachgoers against unsafe areas or illegal conduct such as smoking, drinking, inappropriate language, or fighting.
• Rescue distressed persons from the ocean or beachfront using rescue techniques and equipment.
• Examine injured individuals, administer first aid, and monitor vital signs using training, antiseptics, bandages, stethoscope, and sphygmomanometer.
• Administer artificial respiration via cardiopulmonary or mouth-to-mouth methods, or provide oxygen to relieve individuals.
• Complete emergency and medical treatment report forms; maintain daily logs of weather and beach conditions.
• Operate a two-way radio to coordinate with emergency rescue units.
• Maintain cleanliness of the lifeguard tower and beach area.

Requirements

• Surf Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR certifications (required).
• Lifeguard experience preferred but not necessary.

• 8-hour shifts.
