Qualifications

• Supervises swimming activities at the aquatics facility
• Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger
• Enforces pool regulations and water safety policies
• Administers first aid in emergencies
• Rescues swimmers in distress
• Administers CPR if necessary
• Evaluates conditions for safety
• Initiates aquatics emergency action plan as required
• Inspects pool facilities, equipment, and water
• Assists with cleaning the pool and related facilities
• Performs chlorine residual water tests
• Adds chemicals to pool water as directed

Essential Physical Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old
• Must be responsible, detail-oriented, and safety conscious
• Sitting/standing for prolonged periods of time
• The ability to communicate well in person and on the phone
• Certified Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate, or equivalent
• American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, or equivalent
• American Red Cross Standard First Aid, or equivalent
