Job Description

The Parks and Recreation Lifeguard monitors activities in and around the Community Recreation Center Pool facility or the Ross Park Aquatics Complex. This position requires applicants to be 15 years of age or older. The job may require successful completion of a background check.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Performs general pool and patron supervision including constant surveillance of patrons using the CRC Pool facility or the Aquatics Complex.
• Provides emergency care and treatment as required and maintains high standards of customer service during interactions with pool and facility patrons.

Acceptable Experience, Training, Licenses And/Or Certifications

• American Red Cross Lifeguard certification required;
• 1-2 years/seasons of Lifeguarding and Swim Instructor experience may be required depending on position.

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, climb ladders, work at heights, and in confined spaces.
• The job requires hand/finger dexterity to handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms.
• The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
