Life Skills Associate (LSA)

About the role

Elwyn seeks Life Skills Associates (LSAs) to provide supervision, guidance, instruction, and skill building to assigned individuals served within a specific program site. LSAs support daily living activities, safety, vocational activities, and social interactions.

Responsibilities

• Maintains all levels of supervision for assigned individuals as determined by the support plan.
• Supervises, instructs, and provides guidance to individuals in accordance with their support plans, including:
  • Healthcare
  • Religious, ethnic, and cultural preferences
  • Recreational, socialization, and vocational activities
  • Physical fitness and healthy living
  • Family visits, involvement, and conflict resolution
  • Independence and life skills (e.g., cooking, housekeeping, money management)
  • Social awareness and interpersonal relationships
  • Personal hygiene
• Administers medication in strict accordance with support plans and protocols.
• Follows physicians' orders and updates medical records as required.
• Coordinates transportation needs for individuals served.
• Responds to emergency situations (e.g., CPR, first aid, crisis intervention, fire drills, evacuations).
• Completes required documentation (e.g., daily logs, goal reports, assessments, incident reports).
• Ensures program site and vehicles meet safety, cleanliness, and licensing standards.
• Remains on shift until incoming staff arrives to maintain required staff-to-resident ratios.
• Assists in resolving problematic situations and reports issues to program management.
• Participates in the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) process to support individual plans.
• Reports incidents as required by mandated reporter regulations.
• Reports policy infractions to program management.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• One (1) year of experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Ability to independently problem-solve.
• Certification in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and crisis intervention techniques.
• Current, valid driver’s license in state of residence with a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience in the U.S. and an acceptable driving record.
