About the role
Elwyn seeks Life Skills Associates (LSAs) to provide supervision, guidance, instruction, and skill building to individuals served within a specific program site. This role focuses on daily living activities, safety, vocational activities, and interpersonal interactions, helping individuals with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and behavioral health challenges lead meaningful lives.
Pay
- 1st shift: $16.83/hour
- 2nd shift: $17.83/hour ($1,500 sign-on bonus for full-time)
- 3rd shift: $17.08/hour

Responsibilities
- Maintains all levels of supervision for assigned individuals as determined by program management and in accordance with each individual’s support plan.
- Supervises, instructs, supports, and provides guidance to individuals in areas including but not limited to:
- Healthcare
- Religious preferences
- Sexual preferences
- Ethnic and cultural support
- Recreational, socialization, and vocational activities
- Physical fitness and healthy living
- Family visits, involvement, disagreements, and grievances
- Independence and life skills (e.g., purchase and inventory of food/personal supplies, cooking, housekeeping, money management)
- Social awareness and interpersonal relationships
- Personal hygiene
- Administers medication as scheduled or needed, following medical guidelines, support plans, and medication administration protocols.
- Follows physicians' orders for continued care and updates medical records as required.
- Coordinates transportation needs for individuals served, as applicable.
- Prepares for and responds to emergency situations (e.g., CPR, first aid, crisis intervention, fire drills, evacuations) to ensure safety and security.
- Completes required documentation, including daily logs, goal reports, assessments, financial transactions, Medical Administration Records, behavioral data sheets, and Incident Reports.
- Ensures program site operates in compliance with safety, cleanliness, and state licensing standards, including routine maintenance of Elwyn vehicles.
- Remains on shift until incoming staff clocks in to maintain required staff-to-resident ratios.
- Assists in resolving problematic situations for individuals served and reports unusual or emergency situations to program management.
- Participates in the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) process to support individual support plans and reports issues if plans are problematic.
- Reports all incidents as required by mandated reporter regulations.
- Reports any infractions of Elwyn policies to program management.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- One (1) year of experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
- Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally.
- Ability to independently problem-solve.
- Ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and crisis intervention techniques according to agency-trained protocols.
- Current, valid driver’s license in state of residence with a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience in the United States and an acceptable driving record.
