About the role

This position supports the mechanical design of projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team in our Greenwood Village, CO office. The role involves all phases of mechanical design production for Life Sciences, Nuclear, and National Security projects, from programming through construction administration. Opportunities for participation in facility commissioning projects are also available. U.S. Citizenship is required for client projects.

Responsibilities

• Participate as part of the mechanical design team and multi-disciplinary project team to execute detailed mechanical, plumbing/process, and controls design for complex mechanical facilities, including life science and nuclear facilities.
• Perform detailed engineering calculations, produce 3D models and construction drawings, and prepare specifications and reports.
• Conduct site inspections, testing, and commissioning of equipment and facilities, which may include travel within the U.S. and abroad.
• Utilize excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
• Develop and maintain expert-level knowledge of applicable codes and standards for the design and construction of nuclear and biocontainment facilities in Canada and internationally.
• Develop and maintain expert-level skills in required software packages, including REVIT.
• Execute all work in accordance with Merrick and project-specific Quality Assurance procedures.
• Exercise independent judgment and initiative to complete design tasks.
• Work independently and in a team environment under Merrick’s hybrid arrangement (office, remote, and onsite).

Requirements

• Minimum of eight (8) years of related experience in mechanical building design for government, academic, and private clients.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Licensure as a Professional Engineer in Colorado or another U.S. jurisdiction is preferred. If not currently licensed, candidates must demonstrate a plan and ability to obtain licensure within two years.
• Experience in mechanical building design, including planning, calculations, equipment selection, schematic design, construction documents, and construction administration.
• Laboratory design and construction knowledge is an advantage.
• Proficiency in REVIT and AutoCAD.
• Strong report-writing skills, including basis of design reports, specifications, and field reports.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong oral presentation abilities.
• Effective problem-solving skills applying mechanical design principles.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally; a current passport is required.
• U.S. Citizenship is required for client projects.
• Ability to obtain federal security clearance.

Pay

Typical salary range for this position is $108,000.00 - $138,000.00. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
