Life Sciences Lab Support Temporary Assignments

Hourly, part-time position in Blacksburg, Virginia. Emergency Hire opportunities are limited to 130 calendar days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily lab routines
• Order supplies and monitor inventory
• Maintain equipment service records and contracts
• Maintain records of research, laboratory stocks, inventory, and purchasing
• Animal husbandry and care activities (where applicable), including feeding, watering, cage cleaning, and related tasks

Requirements

• Previous laboratory experience demonstrating ability to follow research protocol
• Ability to keep an experimental laboratory notebook as instructed
• Working knowledge of good laboratory practices, especially safety
• Organizational skills and ability to interact comfortably and respectfully with all individuals in a diverse multicultural environment
• Some positions require wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while working
