Life Safety Officer (EMT) - Full Time (Planet Hollywood LV)

About the role

Life Safety Officers (LSO) provide protection from any element, factor, or situation that may jeopardize the welfare, security, and integrity of team members, guests, their personal properties, and company assets at Planet Hollywood, encompassing over 100,000 square-feet of gaming, multiple lounges, and various restaurants.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and team members with a friendly and sincere welcome.
• Continuously patrol the property to ensure the safety of guests and team members and uphold established laws, policies, and procedures.
• Exercise good judgment in solving problems and display a realistic understanding of issues.
• Facilitate resolution of customer complaints through personal action and coordination with other departments.
• Act as an ambassador by providing accurate and detailed directions regarding property attractions and amenities.
• Maintain a well-groomed appearance reflecting the professional standards of the Security Department.
• Provide assistance to civil and law enforcement authorities, including testimony in court and other administrative proceedings.
• Provide medical assistance as a “First Responder,” including “First Aid” and “CPR,” following proper procedures and techniques.
• Interview, investigate, and document all incidents requiring Security intervention in accordance with company and department policy.
• Enforce all company policies and procedures.
• Meet required attendance guidelines and adhere to all company and department policies and procedures.
• Respond to areas of need when dispatched in a timely manner.
• Conduct slot, pit poker, and other drops in compliance with Nevada Gaming law and departmental procedures.
• Follow departmental policy concerning the “Use of Force” for arrest and detention of individuals violating laws or company policy.
• Write detailed reports, including photographic evidence and voluntary witness statements, for incidents such as hazard and safety violations, accidents, complaints, policy violations, theft, trespassing, lost and found, fire, and other necessary reports.
• Respond to dispatched medical calls in compliance with Clark County BLS (Basic Life Support) protocols.
• Restock the trauma bag immediately following medical calls.
• Conduct visual inspections of Automated External Defibrillation (AED) and oxygen supplies.
• Know the location of all emergency equipment and exits (phones, fire extinguishers, emergency exits, etc.).

Requirements

• 1 to 2 years of prior security experience preferred.
• Prior experience in a position with direct guest contact is preferred.
• Ability to manage several tasks at once.
• Good oral and written communication skills, with a working knowledge of basic computer programs.
• Ability to work any day of the week and any shift.
• Must obtain and possess a Nevada Gaming Card, Alcohol Awareness Card (AES), and a current and valid Nevada Driver’s License.
• Must maintain a current BASIC EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN certification with the State of Nevada, Southern Nevada Health District Emergency Medical Services.
• Must maintain a current NATIONAL REGISTRY OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANS certification.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to work and stand inside and outside, sometimes in heat in excess of 115 degrees or cold as low as 10 degrees.
• Ability to physically restrain adults weighing more than 200 pounds.
• Ability to respond calmly in crisis and stressful situations, making rational decisions when handling guest and employee issues.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to stoop, bend, jump, twist, crouch, grip, carry heavy loads, and maneuver quickly on level surfaces and stairs.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
• Ability to push or pull up to 150 pounds.
• Ability to see and remember specific details of incidents and persons.
• Ability to give court testimony and write detailed reports.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must tolerate areas containing secondhand smoke, high noise levels, bright lights, and dust.
• Must pass physical and written testing of the Las Vegas Region Security Academy (covering C.O.D.E.S., Defensive Tactics, Legal Issues, Handcuffing, Verbal De-Escalation Skills, Use of Force, Report Writing, Searching Subjects, Emergency Response, Ethics, Expandable Baton, Red Cross AED/CPR/Emergency First Aid) within the first ninety days of employment.
