About the Role
Luther Manor is seeking a Life Enrichment Specialist to plan, organize, and implement a variety of educational and recreational programs that foster independence in residents' physical, mental, social, and emotional needs. Music therapy experience is a bonus.
Schedule: 1st shift, 3 days a week (includes 1 Saturday per month).
Responsibilities
- Coordinates and/or conducts educational, recreational, and social programs for residents.
- Conducts group programs and one-on-one visits.
- Organizes and executes tours on and off campus for residents, including instructing and supervising volunteers.
- Maintains current and proper records of resident involvement and response.
- Provides encouragement and cueing to residents to attend Life Enrichment opportunities.
- Coordinates and assigns volunteer interaction as appropriate.
- Promotes an environment of open communication between co-workers and the multi-disciplinary team.
- Follows state and federal regulations, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook, Human Resources Manual, and Resident Bill of Rights, and adheres to safety rules.
- Reports potential or actual safety hazards to supervisors and/or the Director of Safety and Security immediately.
- Assists in the transfer and transportation of residents (average resident weight: 165 pounds).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience and/or education in programming, organizing, and working with older adults.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills, with tact and courtesy when working with residents, families, and friends of varying capabilities.
- Ability to keep accurate and clear records according to Luther Manor and HFS 83 standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively using a team approach with all staff and departments.
- Must function independently, demonstrate flexibility, and work effectively with all staff, residents, and families.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, based on resident needs and desires.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
