About the role

The Life Enrichment Assistant develops and coordinates activity programs that reflect the varied interests of residents and provide meaningful, life-enriching experiences. Programming encompasses physical, social, intellectual, and artistic facets, including both in-community and external activities.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteer members and cultivate staff involvement in activities.
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual training through the designated Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Communicate activity programs and upcoming events to department supervisors.
  • Create daily and monthly activity calendars with dates, times, and locations.
  • Coordinate and host all special events, including holiday events, and decorate the community accordingly.
  • Facilitate resident council or town hall meetings for residents to share feedback on community services.
  • Submit resident feedback to the Executive Director for corrections or staff recognition.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of activity equipment within budgetary guidelines.
  • Arrange transportation for regular and special outings, including emergency resident care supplies and staff assistance.
  • Cultivate opportunities for residents to engage in community centers and service projects.
  • Possess and maintain strong knowledge of the community, its benefits, services, healthcare, residents, and employees.
  • Perform other duties that contribute to the success, care, comfort, and happiness of residents.

Requirements

  • Experience creating and coordinating activities for older adults.
  • Ability to supervise, lead, and motivate people.
  • Experience delegating responsibility while maintaining oversight of daily activities and major projects.
  • Volunteer recruitment and training experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
  • Knowledge of care and supervision requirements for the elderly.
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; preferred two years of college specializing in recreational activities.
  • Strong understanding of the English language to read, write, and interpret administrative information.
  • Effective communication skills.
