About the role
Protouch Staffing is looking for compassionate, dependable, and experienced Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) with Certification by the State of Texas to perform Vision and Hearing Screenings to join our School Health Program in Houston!
We are especially seeking LVNs with an interest or experience in vision and hearing screenings, student health, and preventative care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct vision screenings for students in accordance with Texas requirements
- Conduct hearing screenings and identify students who may require further evaluations
- Provide clinic, classroom, or 1:1 nursing care for students with complex medical needs
- Support students requiring specialized care, including tracheostomy, ventilator, and G-tube management
- Maintain accurate and timely student health records
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, school administrators, and the RN Program Leader
- Provide health education and guidance to school staff and unlicensed personnel as appropriate
- Support compliance with applicable state health requirements and Medicaid/SHARS documentation
Required Qualifications
- Current Texas LVN license or compact license with a minimum of 2 years of active licensure
- Graduate of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nursing program
- Certified by the State of Texas to perform Vision and Hearing Screenings with 2+ years experience
- Strong knowledge of Texas school health screening requirements and procedures
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR/AED certification
- Ability to independently respond to emergencies, perform CPR, administer emergency medications, and provide lifesaving measures within established guidelines
- Completion of required school district fingerprinting/background requirements
- Complete immunization documentation, including:
- MMR
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B
- Tdap
- Flu
- Current TB skin test or chest X-ray
Physical & Mental Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist students as needed
- Ability to lift or physically assist students when required by the assignment
- Ability to remain calm and focused in emergency situations
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced school environment

Pay
$35.00/Hour
