About the role
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse IV to join our team. This role is based at the State Supported Living Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Responsibilities
- Attends work regularly and may work shifts, including rotating schedules, extended shifts, and overtime.
- Performs complex and technical nursing procedures, collects specimens, and administers medications and treatments.
- Trains, models, and coaches other LVNs on these procedures.
- Maintains accurate documentation and reports pertinent treatments and observations in the individual’s medical record.
- Trains and coaches new LVNs on performing nursing functions, including acclimating them to the individuals, their needs, and preferences.
- Assists RNs with implementing protocols, procedures, and programs to improve overall health and safety.
Requirements
- Licensed to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
- At least 12 months of nursing experience.
- Experience working or volunteering directly with persons with intellectual disabilities or other developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Ability to train, coach, and oversee the work of others.
Qualifications
- Graduation from a LVN or RN program.
- Knowledge of nursing care standards, procedures, and state and federal laws related to ICF-IID.
- Ability to organize, coordinate, and evaluate nursing activities and deliver health services.
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures, regulations, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Pay
$5,207.24 - $6,779.16 per month.
Schedule
Day shift, with up to 5% travel.
