Licensed Vocational Nurse-Intermediate (Biggs Alzheimer's MDC)

Responsibilities

• Sorts, prioritizes, and manages patient messages and calls to assist providers in assessing and caring for patients.
• Schedules patient appointments.
• Takes vital signs and medical history.
• Completes blood pressure checks and injections.
• Administers medication.
• Captures and documents clinical findings and reports them to the Registered Nurse (RN) in charge and/or Provider.
• Performs Point of Care Testing (POCT).
• Maintains assigned work area with supplies and equipment, cleans, stocks and maintains exam rooms, procedure rooms, instruments and equipment.
• Coordinates prescription refills and authorizations following protocol.

Qualifications

• Functions within the required nursing process as defined by the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
• Supports the mission, vision and patient promise throughout all interactions.
• Communicates effectively, both written and verbally.
• Possesses analytical thinking skills necessary to handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
• Participates as an integral part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing the highest quality of care to the patient.
• Mets all training and competency requirements.
