About the role
PawMed Veterinary Urgent Care in Charleston, SC, is seeking a licensed Veterinary Technician to join our compassionate and professional team. We provide convenient, necessary care quickly, seven days a week, serving the Charleston and Summerville communities.
Facility Overview
- Location: Charleston and Summerville
- Website: PawMed Urgent Care
- Tentative schedule: 3, 12 hour days
- Pay: $20 - $30 per hour
- Sign on bonus: $2000
Team Structure
- Shift staffing: 1 doctor, 2 nurses, 1 receptionist
- Walk-ins welcome
- Current medical team: 4 full-time doctors, 2 relief doctors, 1 part-time doctor
- Recently hired a doctor with a strong surgical interest, including fracture repairs and pyometra cases, with plans to expand surgical offerings
What You'll Bring To The Team
- Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program
- A current state veterinary technician license in good standing
- Proficiency in a range of technical skills, including nursing, surgery, dental care, radiology, and laboratory procedures
- A calm and efficient approach, especially in fast-paced or stressful situations
- Strong communication skills and a passion for working collaboratively
- One year of experience in the veterinary industry is preferred
Responsibilities
- Utilize your full skillset: Provide comprehensive patient care, including administering treatments, monitoring anesthesia, and performing lab work
- Be a leader and mentor: Guide and support the medical team, ensuring an efficient workflow while mentoring others to help them grow their skills and careers
- Partner with clients: Be a key point of contact for pet owners, educating them on treatments, reviewing medical records, and confidently answering their questions
- Contribute to a positive culture: Play an active role in training, providing feedback, and maintaining the high standards of our hospital environment
