Responsibilities
- Greet clients and patients, obtain vital signs, document in the electronic medical record, and begin documentation of the patient visit.
- Aid veterinarians with appointments, surgeries, dentistry, and euthanasias, maintaining direct supervision from veterinarians and the Hospital Office Manager or Hospital Leader on Duty.
- Perform patient restraint, collect and process laboratory samples, administer medications, and maintain the electronic medical record.
- Schedule appointments, communicate with clients, relay test results, update inventory, and manage accounts receivable.
- Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures, monitor anesthesia and recovery, and ensure safe discharge or transfer to an overnight care facility.
- Provide in-hospital treatments, maintain cleanliness, and assist with patient care as needed.
- Participate in the training of new staff members and disseminate knowledge as required.
- Support the hospital environment by keeping it neat and clean, adhering to a maintenance schedule, and performing regular cleaning tasks.
Requirements
- College or college-equivalent education (completed) as required for becoming a Credentialed Veterinary Technician in the state in which the hospital is located.
- At least 1-year previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or working in a veterinary practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Careful and sympathetic attitude, maintaining a professional demeanor during emotional and stressful situations.
- Telephone and computer skills.
- Willingness to learn new techniques and treatments, offer creative ideas, and accept change.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology or related field.
- Current certification as a Veterinary Technician in the state in which the hospital is located.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of veterinary medicine and procedures.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems.
- Ability to handle stressful and emotionally charged situations.
