Licensed Therapist (LPHA) - Competency Restoration
About the role
The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD is seeking a Licensed Therapist (LPHA) for their Jail Based Competency Restoration Program. The CR-LPHA will work under the supervision of the Program Director to provide clinical services, including competency restoration education and legal education for defendants found incompetent to stand trial.
Responsibilities
- Conducts clinical assessments as ordered by the court and returns dispositions to the court in a timely manner, recommending appropriate placement of a defendant.
- Facilitates competency restoration education in individual or group settings, as needed.
- Collaborates with administration and management to enhance the quality of care and services provided across the agency in a trauma-informed manner.
- Communicates with the treatment team about defendants' learning progress.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to the cultural diversity of individuals served, including family members, visitors, and fellow employees.
- Aids in monitoring competency status and communicating concerns to the treatment team.
- Adapts and modifies training materials to accommodate patient and agency needs.
Requirements
- Current licensure in the state of Texas as: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
- At least 1 year of experience in training or instruction.
- At least 2 years of experience working in the behavioral health or intellectual or developmental disability field.
