Licensed Surveyor
About the role
We are currently searching for an experienced Licensed Surveyor to support our Midwest Region located in Dayton, OH.
Responsibilities
- Surveying & Data Collection: Conduct boundary, topographic, right-of-way, and construction layout surveys using GPS, total stations, and other instruments
- Collect, analyze, and certify survey data for public and private projects
- Prepare plats, legal descriptions, and technical reports
- Project Management: Plan and schedule survey projects, including budgeting and resource allocation
- Supervise and train survey crews; ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams to support project planning and execution
- Compliance & Documentation: Maintain accurate field notes, logs, and digital records
- Interpret and apply engineering plans and specifications
- Technology & Software: Use CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D), Trimble, Carlson, and GIS tools for mapping and modeling
- Utilize 3D scanning, GNSS, and aerial photogrammetry where applicable
Requirements
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Active Ohio Professional Surveyor (PS) license required
- Minimum 3 years of field surveying experience, preferably in civil or transportation projects
- Strong knowledge of surveying principles, local laws, and safety practices
- Proficiency in survey instruments and technical software
- Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills
Qualifications
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment
- Valid driver’s license
- A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
