About the Role
A Licensed School Nurse is responsible for promoting student health, safety, and well-being within the school community.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate school health policies, procedures, and protocols in compliance with state laws and regulations.
- Provide comprehensive nursing services, assess student health needs, and develop individualized health plans and interventions.
- Manage health services for students with various health conditions, including coordinating treatments and medications.
- Maintain accurate, confidential health records and oversee immunizations and health screenings.
- Respond to health emergencies, injuries, and illnesses; coordinate emergency preparedness plans.
- Educate staff and students on health, wellness, prevention, and safety topics.
- Collaborate with families, healthcare providers, and school staff; participate in student support meetings.
- Ensure compliance with licensing requirements, maintain professional knowledge, and perform related duties.
Requirements
- Current Licensed School Nurse (LSN) and Registered Nurse (RN) licenses in Minnesota.
- Public Health Nurse (PHN) registration and CPR/AED certification.
- Knowledge of Minnesota school health requirements, nursing standards, and healthcare practices.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while safeguarding student confidentiality.
