JOB SUMMARY
The 988 mental health crisis hotline partners with Sycamores to provide support to people experiencing a mental health crisis. The Mobile Crisis Outreach Team responds 24/7, 365 days a year, and the Mobile Crisis Outreach Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) provides in-person support including crisis stabilization, safety planning, and assessment for danger.
Responsibilities
- Respond in person to provide timely support and stabilize individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.
- Triage calls from the 988 hotline and coordinate with the 988 call center, police, sheriff, psychiatric hospitals, and ambulance transport companies.
- Evaluate individuals for safety and involuntary hospitalization needs.
- Take the lead on care coordination, working collaboratively with the MCOT Peer Support Specialist to locate hospitals, ambulances, housing, etc.
- Respond to individuals' needs for in-person evaluations within specified geographical areas (Antelope Valley, San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley).
Requirements
- Licensed in the State of California as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician.
- 2+ years of successful licensure and experience preferred.
- Maintain relevant licensure and certifications as a condition of employment.
- Must have a valid California driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Proof of auto insurance meeting minimum coverage requirements.
Qualifications
- DMH experience preferred.
- Physical demands include managing and de-escalating consumers, frequent driving, and continuous use of bilateral upper extremities.
- Ability to perform physical intervention for safety of consumers according to training and policy.
- Operate a motor vehicle frequently in the community with consumers.
Benefits
Starting Pay Range: $70,304 - $76,080 per year for Full-Time employment (starting pay will be based on previous work experience and educational background.)

Schedule
Shift Schedule: Sunday - Wednesday 4 pm - 2am
Physical Demands
- Frequent driving to various work site locations.
- Frequent/continuous intermittent standing/walking, occasional/intermittent sitting.
- Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, squeezing, griping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.
- Reaching at or above shoulder level may be necessary.
- Bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting, and climbing.
- Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Continuous use of near vision, hearing, and verbal communication skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with consumers and co-workers and performing job duties.
- Physical presence in the office during shift when not in the field.
- Ability to practice physical intervention for safety of consumers according to training and policy.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Frequent driving in the community with consumers.
- Filling up gas tank of agency van, as needed.
